WELL-BRED FILLY
A WELLINGTON PURCHASE
Mr. A. L. Johnson, of Wellington, whose colours were prominent some years ago when he raced Logan Park, Eageant, and other light-harness horses in partnership with the late Mr. R. A. Armstrong, recently purchased Diversion, a three-year-old filly by Rey de Oro from Escapade, from her breeder, Mr. W. J. Morland.
Diversion is engaged in the Probationers' Handicap at the Wellington Trotting Club's Meeting tomorrow. She showed plenty of speed as an early two-year-old, when she was being developed with Frisco Lady, who has since proved to be the best two-year-old and three-year-old of her seasons.
Diversion comes of a stout family. Her dam, Escapade, was the champion trotting mare of her time, taking a two-mile record of 4min 27 l-ssec. Escapade is by Nelson Bingen from Country Belle, champion pacing mare of her time, the dam of Gold Country, 4min 21sec, Countryman 2min 10 2-ssec, and others. Diversion is a sister to Levity, who won at Hutt Park last season.
