KIPLING'S FUNERAL
MINIMUM OF CEREMONY

Mr. Rudyard Kipling's funeral sei> vice at Westminster Abbey was conducted with a minimum of pomp and ceromony and was attended by statesmen, writers, high officers of the fight« ing services, representatives of the Do* minions including the Agents-General, foreign diplomats, and poets. The ashea lay beneath a Union Jack on whicli rested two simple wreaths. Mrs. Kipling was a tragic figure. Thai congregation sung Kipling's own Recessional. The poet is buried next toi Thomas Hardy and near Charles Dickens.
