SEAMEN'S PROPOSAL
NO EXTENSION OF STRIKE
MELBOURNE, January.23.
Ther^ will be no extension of th« shipping strike as a result of the decision reached by the Australian Council of Trades Unions conference which ended today.
So much hostility was displayed by delegates to the seamen's, extension proposal that it was withdrawn. The Australian Council of Trades Unions is endeavouring to arrange a conference with the shipowners and also to ask the Government to alter the Transport Workers' Act to enable members of the Seamen's Union to accept employment.
