POLE-VAULTING EXHIBITION

In an exhibition of pole vaulting at the Basin Reserve.last evening E. J. Winter, of New South Wales, who has been under engagement to the Napier Amateiß- Athletic Club, cleared 12ft 6in, equal to the best he has done in New Zealand, and lft lMn more than the national record. He attempted 12ft 9in, and on his third effort was actually well over the bar, but dislodged it with his chest when descending. Winter leaves for Sydney this afternoon.
