THE FIFTH RACE
AUCKLAND WIN IN LIGHT WIND
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. In the fifth race of the Cornwell Cup series Auckland beat Christchurch by 33sec after a very close race in a light breeze. Kaiapoi was over smin behind, third. Tine race started at 9.55 a.m. Auckland were last away. At the first mark Christchurch led, with Wellington, Plimmerton, and Kaiapoi next. At the next mark the same order prevailed except that Auckland had moved to third place. Christchurch completed the first round 25sec ahead of Auckland, with Lyttelton and Wellington next. In the second round the wind was even lighter, but nearing the lee mark it picked up a little. Auckland passed Christchurch and increased their lead to the lee mark. On the last leg the wind died »ight out, coming from the north. The finish was:— . . hr. mm. sec. Auckland '. 11 32 34 Christchurch ......... U 33 7« Kaiapoi ......
