WANGANUI WOOL SALE
GOQD MARKET FOR FINE SORTS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
WANGANUI.'-- This Day.
Today's wool sale was largely attended; 30,000 bales are being offered to a large bench of buyers. ■ The selection is an average one of good to medium top-making quality. Owing to the late shearing, seed is rather prevalent, and some good style's of wool are spoilt by faulty get-up and neglect of skirting.
Bidding was extremely animated, with the buying, well spread. Botli English and German buyers were well in the market and purchased freely. The wool offered is very suitable for Continental purposes, many of the clips being fine and of carding length. France, Germany, and Belgium were all keen bidders for fine carding sorts, with Bradford operating widely on the average of good top-making qualities. Japan was well in the market for wools suitable for her trade, but United States bidding was restricted, prcbably owing to the selection being too fine. Growers met the market well as compared with the recent Wellington and Napier sales. ' Prices' were firm and unchanged, except for the 'finer good carding wools which were selling in growers' favour. All classes of skirtings sold well up to late rates; halfbred hoggets to 13|d, fine Romney crossbred lid to 12Jd. lambs lid to 12d.
: In comparison, with the recent Wellington sales, medium to coarse wools sold at par to firm; fine wools of 48 /• 50 quality, id to 4d up; 56 quality, Jd 'to Id up; fine hoggets, id to Id up.
