BANKS CALL IN FUNDS
(Received December 27, 2 p.m.) | LONDON, December; 26. An indication that Britain is spending more, notably, during Christmas week, was furnished in Lombard Street on Tuesday with the unexpected action of the clearing banks calling in funds before the holidays, necessitating borrowing from the Bank of England.
