FOOTBALL SENSATION
ARSENAL'S DEFEAT OF ASTON VILLA
(Received December 16, 9 a.m.)
LONDON, December 14. Arsenal's defeat of Aston Villa by 7 goals to 1 was one of the greatest sensations in the history of Association football. Aston Villa, at the bottom of the League table, were making an effort to avoid relegation to the second division, and spent within a month £24,000 in acquiring new stars, who failed against the Arsenal team's cleverness. The Arsenal centre, Drake, scored all the goals, a feat unequalled in the English League in 47 years. The players on both teams were valued at £110,000 in transfer fees.
