New Zealand is vitally interested in the strike, because it has affected transTasman services. It is a fortnight today since the last mail steamer left here for New Zealand. The Wang*anella, due to leave last Saturday, was the second vessel affected by the strike. The Niagara, due to leave today, was involved in the last strike about two. months ago. Delayed then, she was manned by a volunteer crew. Ordinarily this crew would have been replaced for the new voyage, but now it is likely to be re-engaged. It is in this way, it appears, that marine communication with New Zealand will be restored. But until, the Niagara is actually steaming down the harbour there will be a doubt about even her departure. _____
