PRE-WEDDING PARTIES
A delightful "kitchen tea" was held on Saturday at Mrs. ;E. S. Driller's residence, Queen's, Drive, Lyall Bay, in honour of the.'.tapproaching marriage of Miss »ia Inkster. Mrs. Driller, assisted by her daughter, Miss ; Elsie! Driller, received the guests," wearing a frock of French blue figured crepe. The guest of honour wore dusky pink floral georgette. ?.: Musical items, rendered by Mrs. F» Brown and Miss Doreen Mclntyf c,, and elocutionary items by the Misses G. Guhn and M. Duncan, were greatly appreciated; and. the opening of the many parcels "for the-kitchen" caused much merriment. Two amusing competitions on the programme were won by Miss Elsie Johnston and Mrs. F. Brown and Miss G. Gunn and Mrs. Boocock. A.delicious home-made afternoon tea was served. A Among those present were Mesdames N. Sowry, A. Inkster, Don Mclntyre, D. Mclntyre, G, - Pethrick, J. Iwing, Stewart, Brown, King, C. Moore, C. Townsley, J. Harper, Reid, Warrick, J. Pottinger, Waters, Boocock, J. Balflour, J. Peters^-*, Hanham, F. Vidulich; Misses B. StsWart, D. Mclntyre, E. Johnston, V. Duncan, N. Preston, G. Gunn, N. V/dulich, I. ' "tewart, D. Hesketh, »nd R. Marsden. A ."kitchen tea" was recently given to, Miss Mary Ormrod by the members of the ladies' auxiliary of the Port Nicholson Silver Band. The evening was spent. in competitions, items, etc.,''. Miss.'. Laurenson, Mrs. Hambly, arid Mrs. Charteris being the winners of the competitions. Miss Bracefield r Miss Burnette, and pupils gave musical items and dances, Mrs.
Burnette and: Miss, May Ormrod play-
ing the accompaniments; Just before ~ supper Miss Ormrod opened her many gifts, v/hiqh \yere all Useful and gave the recipient much pleasure. Supper was supplied by the ladies.
