ONE OR TWO CLUBS?
ATHLETIC CENTRE'S QUERY
COUNCIL GIVES RULING
A ruling relating to the Scottish Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club, Wellington, was sought by the Wellington Centre at last night's meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association.
The question was: (a) Whether the Scottish Harrier and Amateur Athletic Club, which caters for harriers and track athletes, should be regarded as one or two clubs; (b) whether' under the rules the club should be permitted two delegates all the year round, seeing that the track membership for the summer season is 27 and the harrier membership during the winter 28; and (c) whether one affiliation fee covers the summer and winter activities?
Mr. C. A. Willis contended that there was an attempt to split the Scottish Club into two clubs.
It was decided to reply that as far as the council was concerned the club was registered as one club, and on that principle was required to pay only one affiliation fee. On the question of representation it was decided to rule as follows:—"A club's representation on a centre is based on the number of registered members at the particular time. If a club's registered members are increased or decreased (such registration . can be decreased only by an athlete cancelling his registration or his registration certificate being cancelled by the council) then such club's representation is increased or decreased according to whether the number of registered athletes for the particular club is over or under fifty."
