TO REMAIN

ATHLETIC DELEGATES

AUCKLAND CENTRE'S

DECISION

As a result of further consideration having been given the matter by the Auckland Centre, Messrs. L. A. Tracy and W. F. Ingram are to remain that centre's delegates to the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. Some weeks ago these two delegates decided to resign because of the Auckland Centre's adherence to a decision that they should take a certain course of action at the annual meeting of the N.Z.A.A.A. At last night's meeting of the council Mr. Tracy announced that he was happy to state that the matter had been cleared up satisfactorily. The Auckland Centre desired, that they should bring such matters as it wished before the council, but they as delegates would have complete freedom as to how they voted.

The chairman, Mr. A. Urquhart, expressed appreciation of the attitude adopted by the Auckland Centre, and also of the stand taken by Messrs. Tracy and Ingram. He said he thought lit would be a retrograde step if delegates were bound by the centres they [represented to vote in a certain way. There were times when delegates came to the council meeting with a conviction that the ideas they held on a subject or subjects were perfectly correct, but, after hearing the views of others, frequently they realised they were wrong in the conclusion they had reached before coming to the meeting.
