ELLSWORTH SEARCH
EELIEF AEROPLANE
WRECKED
OCCUPANTS UNINJURED

GEORGIA (Atalanta), December 9.
The aeroplane which was beipg flown by Mr. Thaw for the Ellsworth search crashed at the local airport today and was completely wrecked. The pilot and mechanic escaped uninjured.
"The motor cut out about fifty feet up," said Thaw. "Probably it was due to >a plugged petrol line. We landed in a ditch." ■•• •■ • ■
The' flyer and his aide departed for New York.'-They were unable .to say what further steps would be taken in connection with the search for Lincoln Ellsworth.
"A relief aeroplane to search for Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth, piloted by . Mr. Thaw,' a son of Harry K. Thaw, and Evelyn Nesbit, with Mr. Klen&e as radio man and mechanic,' took off from New Jfork airport on December 7 to fly to Magallanes, where it was to be taken aboard the Wyatt Earn. Mr. Thaw was not the pilot chosen for the relief-flights. Specially constructed, the aeroplane had skis and other equipment, including two-way radio.
