,As is usual in the Christmas holiday period special sailings from Wellington to Lyttelton, Nelson, and Picton are to be run. Booking has been exceptionally heavy this year, and although Christmas is still three weeks away some sailings are booked out. In addition to the extra service runs, several excursion and daylight trips are to be made.
In the Wellington-Lyttelton service the Wahine will make a daylight trip to Lyttelton, and the Eangatira one from Lyttelton to Wellington oh Tuesday, December 24. The Rangatira will leave here again that night -for Lyttelton, and the Wahine wili sail from Lyttelton to Wellington. The usual timetable will then be maintained until Sunday, December 29, when the Wahine will leave Wellington and "the Rangatira Lyttelton. This will,^ in addition to providing extra sailings, enable the Rangatira and Wahine to regain their usual time-table, which will be altered after the daylight trips. Thereafter the usual running will be maintained for the remainder of the holiday period.
.In the Wellington-Nelson service there will be extra sailings on Tuesday, December '24. The usual timetable will be maintained until and including Monday, December 23. From then on until after the New Year the time-table will be:—
Leave WellingtonJ—Matangi, Tuesday, December 24, 1.15 p.m.; Arahura, Tuesday, December 24, 10.15 p.m.; Matangi, Thursday, December 26, midnight; thereafter as usual, except oh Wednesday, January 1, when the Arahura will sail at midnight.
Leave Nelson. —Arahura, Tuesday, December 24, 9 a.m.'; Matangi, Tuesday, December 24, 9.30 p.m.; Arahura; Thursday, December 26, midnight; thereafter as usual except on Wednesday, January 1, when the Matangi will sail at midnight.
. The Tamahine, in the Picton service, will make several additional sailings. Her time-table from Friday, December 20, until after the New Year will be:—
Leave Wellington: December 20, 2.45 p.m.; December 21, i.15 p.m.; December 23, 2.45 p.m.; December 24, 12.15 a.m. and 11.0 p.m.; December 26, midnight; December 27, 4.30- p.m.; December 28, 1.15 p.m.; December 30, 2.45 p.m.; January 2, 11.0 a.m.; January 3, 2.45 p.m.; January 4, 1.15 p.m.
Leave Picton: December 20, 9 p.m.; December 22, 6 p.m.; December 23, 9 p.m.; December 24, 6 p.m.; December 25, 5 a.m.; December 27, 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.; December 29, 6 p.m.; December 31. 2.45 p.m.; January 2, 6 p.m.; January 3, 9 p.m.; January 5, 6 p.m. She will then maintain her usual summer running.
Additional trips to Picton will be made by the Bangatira on Thursday, December 26, and on Wednesday, January 1, if weather conditions are favourable. On these dates the Kangatira will make excursion trips to Picton, leaving Wellington at 8 a.m. each day and Picton at 2.30 p.m., arriving back at Wellington about 5.15 p.m.
The Tamahine's summer time-table, which this year will commence just before Christmas, will be as follows: Leave Wellington: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 2.45 p.m.; Saturday, 1.15 p.m. Leave Picton: Tuesday, Thursday, 2.45 p.m.; Friday, 9 p.m.; Sunday, 6 p.m. .
