BAPTIST SUNDAY SCHOOL
The anniversary celebrations in connection, with the Sunday school of the Petone Baptist Church were concluded yesterday. A tea w§fe held at the Sunday school, and at 5 p.m. .the scholars were entertained free. At 5.30 p.m. there was a tea for parents and friends. This was followed by a concert given by the children. There were numerous recitations, pianoforte and vocal solos, and concerted items. During the evening the secretary (Miss K. Johansen) read the ' Sunday school report. This showed a marked increase in the roll number and also in the attendance of the school. During the year the Sunday school had pioneered the way with a Sunday school week. This was thought to be the first of its kind in New Zealand. The treasurer (Mr. J. Lambourn) presented the financial statement, and this showed a very satisfactory position. Mr. W. S. Haddy, superintendent of the Sunday school, voiced the appreciation of the teachers to the parents who had entrusted the children to their care and all who had helped in any way in connection with the anniversary. At the conclusion of the concert programme the prizes won during the year were presented to the children by Mrs. W. S. Haddy, wife of the superintendent.
