FARM IMPLEMENTS

GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY

EXTENSION OF PERIOD

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, NoverMer 5. An announcement was ma^p by the Minister of Employment (the Hon. S. G. Smith) that the Government scheme for a subsidy on the purchase of modern farm implements will be extended by four months. "The operations of the scheme, which was introduced in June last, have recently been reviewed, and it is found to be working smoothly," said the Minister. "As a result the building, sheet metal, engineering, and dairy machinery industries have been considerably stimulated, with a consequent increase in employment. The board has therefore decided to extend the scheme from December 31 to include works commenced by April 30 next, ir. order ■ to encourage dairy factories and dairy farmers to anticipate as far as possible their needs for extensions and I improvements to their properties. This '■ will enable the supplying industries to ■ retain in employment many men whose 1 services would otherwise be dispensed [ with during the slack period of the : year."
