TO REPLACE RATIONING

NEW EMPLOYMENT SCHEME

N.Z.E.I. APPROVAL

"The new scheme announced by the Minister for Education for the employment of those teachers at present serving under the rationing scheme will give very general satisfaction to the profession," stated Mr. G. R. Ashbridge, secretary of the New Zealand Educational Institute, in the course of an interview today. "The scheme fully meets the claims which have been made by the institute and provides for standard rates of salary to all trained teachers.

"It should, of course, be clearly understood that by February of next year over 85 per cent, of the present rationed teachers will be needed for normal staffing requirements. It is, however, very gratifying to see that the surplus teachers will be employed at scale rates until they receive ordinary positions."
