REMAND FOR M CARTHUR
WARRANT FROM NEW ZEALAND
SYDNEY, October 18. When John William Shaw McArthur appeared in the - Police Court today; the police asked for a further remand. McArthur's counsel strongly objected and said that McArthur was being done a grave injustice by the police. He asked whether the original warrant had really existed in New Zealand at the time McArthur was detained in Sydney on a provisional warrant. ' The police said that a detective left New Zealand by the Maunganui on. Tuesday with the original warrant. McArthur was remanded to October 25, bail being renewed. McArthur first - appeared at the Central Court on. October 4 on a provisional warrant alleging the issue o£ a false prospectus in New Zealand. When the police asked for an adjournment McArthur's solicitor, Dr. F. Louat, said it was a political stunt oh I the part of the Government of New Zealand. There was nothing new in the prospectus, which was two and a half years old. The whole affairs of the company, Dr. Louat explained, were investigated 14 months ago by five Governments. There was a complete answer to the allegations, and every word in the prospectus was literally true.
