AWARUA SEAT
SUPPORT FOR MR. HARGEST

INVERCARGILL, August 12. At a largely-attended meeting at WJnton this afternoon, Mr. James Hargest, M.P. for Invercargill, was unanimously chosen as the official National candidate for Awarua at the General Election. Mr. Hargest was present at the meeting later, and acceded to the request to contest the seat.
The Hon. F. Waite, M.L.C., presided, and Mr. de la Perrelle was also present. . Warm tributes were paid to Mr. Perrelle's services in Parliament, both as a Minister of the Crown and member for Awarua. The following motion was carried: "This meeting of Awarua electors learns with great regret of Mr.
Perrelle's inability to stand for re-elec-tion, thanks him for his loyal service as a private member and as a Minister of the Crown, and expresses the hope that a short period of rest will complete his recovery to health."
MivPerrelle, in reply, said that some day he might have sufficient strength to re-enter politics.
