RICCARTON "TOTE" TRIAL
Members of the Canterbury Jockey Club, will have an opportunity of seeing the new electric totalisator in action next Tuesday . afternoon, and will also be able to assist in a practical test of the working of. the complicated machine. . '
It is proposed to give trainers a chance of educating their young horses, and with that object they will be invited to provide rising two-year-olds and rising three-year-olds (maidens) for a couple of short scampers down the straight. These sprints will be used to give the members an opportunity, of making trial investments on the totalisator, tickets being issued in the regular method, though, of course, without any money passing.: / .
The whole idea seems a good one, as it will enable the totalisator to be tried out under something approaching race-day conditions.
