BACHELORS' BALL

GAIETY AT UPPER HUTT

The Majestic Theatre presented a gay scene recently when the bachelors of Upper Hult entertained the ladies of the district at what was one of the fpost highly-successful balls ever held in the locality. The hall was gaily festooned with ferns, greenery, and coloured lights, which, combined with the gay frocks of the ladies, made a charming'and colourful scene. An excellent orchestra supplied the spirited and up-to-date dance music, and a dainty savoury supper was served in the adjoining tearooms.

Several novelties lent additional gaiety to the proceedings, and exhibition dances were given by pupils of Miss Eva Draper. Cool drinks were served at a stall hung with the original and inviting sign "Come to 'The Bachelors' Arms'!"

The enterprising bachelors responsible for this successful function were Messrs. N. ' Benge, Alan Swanson, Claude Baigent, R. McHendry, Chas. Anderson, G. Owen, R. Styles, E. Davis, "W. S. Keeghan, D. Arkle, Noel Erridge, Wilson Hazelwood, and M. Curran. Messrs. T. Herbert, T. Crowe, L. Carr, H. St. Johnston, W. Ralph, H. K. Campbell, and D. G. McLennan (secretary) comprised the dance committee.
