A NEW LAUNCH

TO FISH FROM CISBORNE

A forty-foot launch built for Mr. L D. Higham, of Gisborne, took the water for the first time yesterday from the Balena Bay yard of Mr. B. J. L. Jukes. The launch is intended for fishing out of Gisborne, and is constructed of kauri. Her dimensions are 40ft by 10ft 6in, and she has a draught of sft. She will be schooner rigged. In the afternoon she was towed round to Taranaki Street Wharf, where the services of one of the. wharf cranes were requisitioned to lower a 26cwt engine into her. The engine is a fourcylindered Diesel of 40 horse power, using fuel oil. Shortly before 2 p.m. today the placing of the engine on board was completed, and the craft left the wharf in tow of another launch for Balena Bay. She will take about a week to complete, as the cabin has yet to be fitted, and it is expected that she will leave for Gisborne next weekend.-
