LONDON, July 8.
Any fears of a collapse' against the bowling of Voce and Larwood were soon dispelled when the South Africans continued their innings against Nottinghamshire at Nottingham today.. When stumps were drawn South Africa had scored 496 runs—the highest total of their tour—for the loss of seven wickets. In reply to Nottinghamshire's score of 312 South Africa put on 54 for the loss of three wickets yesterday, Mitchell being unbeaten with a score of 32. Mitchell had Nourse as his partner this morning and the pair immediately attacked the fast bowlers, scoring at the rate of. 2 runs a minute during the first half-hour. A ball from Voce struck Nourse, causing him to roll on the ground. Wade, who was unbeaten at stumps with a score of 150, scored twenty-one boundaries, including three from one of Larwood's overs.
