Beautiful weather prevailed for the third birthday party of the Tawa Flat Women's Institute, resulting in a large attendance of members and friends, and of visitors from Porirua, -Ohariu, and Wellington. Mrs. Richardson presided. ' : :.;'■■ .'.■■; •''■' .. :
Following- the president's address of, .welcome, an item ..was .given :by the Glee Circle, which has .jiist recently been formed. This was' Very much eh-' joyed. Other items were rendered by. Mrs. McKeown (songs), Mrs..Leadley. (songs), Miss Merwood (recitation), and a humorous sketch by the Drama Circle. . ...■"'"" ,7
Mrs. Ryan (president of the Porirua Institute) presented Mrs. Richardson, on behalf of their members, .with, a beautiful,basket of. wax flowers. Miss Maddever, president of the Wellington' South Federation, received from jhe' Tawa'Flat Institute ,a dainty cake: basket and box of spring flowers. Mrs. Hoare and Mrs. Woodman were', also: given small tokens in appreciation of their help during the year. ~ .'■•''.;
After a delightful afternoon tea had been served by .the hostesses and.members of the committee, Mrs. Turner. last year.ls . president,l'; cut the cake,' bringing a happy meeting to a close.
