There was no fast work at New Plymouth yesterday morning, all the horses, including the candidates for Trentham, being restricted to good pace work. However, they are all well forward and ready for racing. Refresher put plenty of dash into his work over a couple of circuits at a sound half-pace and appeared anxious to go faster. This aged Tea Tray gelding is in great order.

His stablemate Glenvane hit out freely in a similar task, striding along in attractive style. He is to be ridden by R. Marsh in the Whyte Handicap, but as he has not raced since Hawera at the beginning of May he may require a race before being seen at his best.

Sporting Song shaped attractively over' two circuits of strong pace work. He is looking more muscular than formerly and should not be disgraced even in the good company at Trentham.

Terry was restricted to steady work on the inside. This filly is on the improve but may need more racing experience. The Trentham team will proceed to the scene of action by motor-float during the weekend. Headmistress has returned to R. Barlow's stable after a long spell. She is looking well but is carrying a lot of condition. < H.
