TERRY IN TRIAL PLATE ?

According to a Christchurch report, the Riccarton jockey G. H. Humphries had an offer last week from the Taranaki trainer R- Johnson to ride Terry at Trentham. A search through the .nominations failed to disclose any horse of that name in the list. Among those engaged, however, in the Trial Plate and Novice Handicap is an unnamed fflly by Nigger Minstrel from Horomea, and probably this is the animal for which the services of Humphries are in request. The Stud Book shows Horomea to have had only one offspring to Nigger Minstrel, so it seems that the Trial Plate entry must be Terry. Johnson received the filly from her Levin owner (Mr. W. H. Hume) only after the recent Otaki Meeting, and probably he forgot her name when making out his nomination list for Trentham. Terry is a three-year-old filly who has already raced several times, but although she has not yet been placed she has • a private reputation. Her dam, Horomea, a smart sprinter and later a useful hurdler, was raced and trained herself by Johnson towards vthe close of her Turf career.
