GREENSEA'S INELIGIBILITY

Surprise was expressed in raping circles in Sydney when it was found that the crack brush hurdler Greensea was missing from the handicaps for the Victoria Grand National Hurdle Kace. Greensea was not handicapped for the event because his entry was informal and could not be accepted by the V.R.C. under its own rules of racing, which prevent the wife of a trainer racing a horse in Victoria.

Greensea is owned, by Mrs. F. T. Cush, wife of the trainer, and under V.R.C. rule of racing 72 (clause a) her entry of. Greensea ■ automatically became void. The rule .in question states: "No horse in which any person who is employed by a trainer, or jockey, or who is the wife of, or who, being a female, resides with a trainer or jockey, has any interest, shall be entered or start for ,any .race." This rule does not apply in New South Wales, where Greensea has won several races under heavy weights in the nomination of Mrs. Cush.
