FOUR MONTHS' FIGURES

Figures supplied by the Customs Department show that the excess of exports over imports (excluding specie) for the four months to the end of April this year amounted to £8,219,000, as compared with £13,808,000 and £8,023,000 respectively for the corresponding periods in 1934 and 1933. For last April the excess of exports was £1,057,000, the comparative figures for 1934 and 1933 being £2,994,000 and £1,691,000 respectively. The value of specie exported during the first four months of this year was £154,000, and the value imported £188,230. During last April specie to the value of £10,000 was imported, exports being nil.
