A NEW "WHITE HOPE"
George Cook, the veteran Australian heavyweight, has found a new "white hope" (states an exchange). He is Pat Marinnan, who has just scored his second first-round k.o. Marinnan has .crammed a good deal of varied experience into his young life. Tiring of school at fifteen, he ran away, to sea. Two years later he returned home a
full-blown able seaman. He then decided to study art, and became proficient as a sculptor. Engineering next attracted him, and two years in Queen's University, Belfast, followed. He gave up engineering to take a job as a coalheaver, and,' eight months later, joined the Palestine police. In Palestine he did some amateur boxing and returned to London with half-a----crown in his pocket. A chance acquaintance took him to George Cook's "gym." in North-West London. Cook gave him a trial and is now convinced he has a future champion.
