LONDON MEAT MARKET
DEMAND FOR LAMB CHECKED
Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated May 31:—"Frozen meat quotations are unaltered. Market quiet, but steady." The Bank of New Zealand, produce department; has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business this week:—There is very little inquiry for wethers. The market for ewes is rather easier. The advance in prices for lambs has checked the, demand but it is anticipated that prices will now remain steady. The demand for beef is affected by low prices of chilled. Trade, generally, is slow. Wethers, light 3i]d to 43 per lb, heavy 3d to 3£d; ewes, 23 d to 3 3-8d; lambs, 2's 6 7-8d to 7 l-Bd, B's 6 7-8d to 7d. 4's 6 5-8d to 63d, seconds 6 l-8d to 6Jd; ox hinds, 3Jd to 4d; fores, 2 5-8d to 2 7-Bd.
