GAELIC CLUB
EX-PRESIDENT FAREWELLED The executive officers of the. Wellington Gaelic Club met last evening and presented Dr. Murdo McK. Mcßae, the past president of the club, with a gold-mounted club badge. Dr.. Mcßae, with Mrs. Mcßae, Miss Mcßae, and family, will leave by the Mahana on Wednesday for Scotland, and will be away for about fifteen months. The president of the club, Mr. P. M. Cameron, thanked Dr; Mcßae for the great interest he had always shown in the club. Dr. Mcßae, he said, was a foundation member and had been president of the club, since its formation five years ago, only relinquishing the position on the eve of his trip overseas. He had also been of great help to many Highland people outside the club. Dr. Mcßae was still a vicepresident of the Wellington Gaelic Club, and that, with his badge, would serve as an introduction to clubs over-, seas. ■ ■ Mrs. A. Me Vicar spoke of the keen interest always shown by Dr. Mcßae in the club, and on behalf of the club presented the badge. A bouquet of roses was presented to Mrs. Mcßae, and also one on behalf of Miss Mcßae, who was out of town. Dr. Mcßae stated that of all the many people who had called %nd farewelled him, none appealed so much as this deputation from the Gaelic Club, the members of which were his own people. It was his intention to keep in touch with the Gaelic clubs while overseas. He would send to the club literature on matters of Highland interest from time to time. Mrs. Mcßae also returned thanks. Mr. Hector Smith, secretary of the club, furnished Dr. Mcßae with letters of introduction to Gaelic Club officials in London and Scotland, and also one to the club's own delegate to Au Comunn Gaidhealach, Glasgow.
