GISBORNE RAILWAY
UNEXPECTED DIFFICULTIES
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
GISBORNE^ This Day. Acute interest has been aroused regarding the success or otherwise of Mr. W. D. Lysnar's negotiations with the Government for the acceptance of the terms offered by London financial groups for the completion and operation of the Gisborne railway. Members of the district railway committee are much concerned owing to a report that the negotiations disclose unexpected difficulties due to the Government raising two issues affecting the flotation ' procedure -which Mr. Lysnar claims should not become a stumbling block. Mr. Jackson, chairman of the. district railway; committee, has telegraphed to the. Acting Prime Minister as follows: "Mr. Lysnar has discussed with me the issues debated in conversations with you and the Acting Minister of Railways on the Gisborne-Napier line. I strongly support his contentions on ' the two issues raised on behalf of the Government, and concur in his statement that these issues do not affect the project from our point of view. Recognising that Mr.^Forbes has numerous urgent calls on his. attention at Home we nevertheless feel justified in claiming his prompt slttention to secure finality on the London offer."
