The American heavyweight, Cy. Wit liams, ushered in the 1935 wrestling season in a somewhat spectacular manner at 'Auckland on Monday when, three seconds from the-commencement of his professional bout' with Sam Burmister.' he feigned to shake hands, but dropped his opponent with a heavy jr't to the jaw to take the first fall with a press (reports "The Herald"). It was a fitting prelude to a lively and boisterous bout, which, falling short of what was desired from a pestling point of view, lacked little in illegalities and showmanship. Burmister took an equalising fall by submission in the third round, and the bout ended in the fourth, when Williams was disqualified for repeatedly kicking his opponent on the face and body, and other illegal tactics. ' The rough methods of the American, were apparent from the' commencement 'of the bout, arid the rather hectic climax added nothing to his popularity with a-fair attendance of spectators. Several times during the bout WilliaiM was cautioned by the referee, and when he was finally disqualified, seemed incensed and bewildered by the decision.
