DUNEDIN, April 20.' The inter-university tournament was continued on Saturday afternoon. . . The surprise of the day in the tenms was the defeat of J. J. McCarthy by Dullield, who accounted for the Wellington player in straight sets and was never really extended. Results are as follows: — TENNIS. Men's Slußlcs.-Firat round: B. D. Moore commenced the first round by sending home lefts and rights from a dstance -Brown was aggressive, but found it difficult to mahe headway against\ the forceful straight work of his opponent.l The third round had not gone far when Moore won by a knock-out with a left to the chin followed by a quick right. ' Welterweight-Final: W. B. H. Statham (OU.), lOst 41b, beat R. C. Perabcrton (C.U-L.), lOst 51b.■ This final opened in very lively fashion, and, following some fast exchanges, Peroberion went down for five after a left and a right to the jaw.
