COMPENSATION FOR INJURED LEG

John Hetherington, waterside worker, Wellington, brought an action in the Arbitration Court yesterday against the Wellington Harbour Board claiming damages for injuries received by him whilst in the employ of the board. The plaintiff said that while working for the board on June 5,1933, on board the Golden Harvest, he had his right leg and ankle crushed by a log, and sustained temporary disability. He asserted that total disability would remain for an indefinite time. The board paid compensation up to July 31, 1934. He claimed a weekly payment of £4 for total incapacity, computed in a lump sum in accordance with the provisions of the Act. The board admitted that the plaintiff was disabled by the accident, but contended that he had now recovered. | After hearing evidence, the Court allowed the plaintiff the two months' additional compensation paid into court, and costs. Mr. F. W. Ongley appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. F. Campbell Spratt for the board.
