OTTAWA r Eforoh 22i - The Minister of linanc«, Mr. E.N. Rhodes, in the Canadian budget announced that the preference on Australian raisins had been extended to March 31, 1936, and the excise tax on t, spirits reduced from 7 dollars to 4 dollars a gallon and: the.British preferential duty on spirituous liquors reduced from 8 to 5 dollars proof spirit, a gallon in order to circumvent bootlegging and smuggling.

A downward revision of 48 * items of the Customs tariff, with four revised upward, was announced by the Minister. Plant for a general refunding of all Federal, Provinoial and municipal debts are being considered with th* - possibility of establishing a national Loan Council, on the Australian model.
