WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

PRESENTATION TO LADY BLEDISLOE

Mrs. H. Paterson, president of the New Zealand' Women's Institutes, and Mrs. W. M. Ward, president of the Women's Division of - the Farmers' Union, had the honour of presenting fo her Excellency Lady Bledisloe a farewell letter from both- organisations yesterday.

The letter, which was enclosed in a beautiful casket of rare New Zealand woods made by disabled soldiers, read: —

"Your Excellency,—We, the 'members of the Women's Institutes of New Zealand and of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, desire by means of this address to express our great appreciation of the assistance which we have had from the constant interest which you have taken in us and in our work. We feel that we cannot allow you to leave New Zealand without expressing our gratitude to you for the many kindnesses, which, coming from your Excellency, have been of the greatest possible .value to our movements. Now that we have to say good-bye to you, which we do with regret, we respectfully ask you to accept our most sincere good wishes for the'future health and happiness of his Excellency and yourself. This address is presented on behalf of all the members of both our organisations.— (Signed) Mary Paterson, president, Dominion Federation of New Zealand Women's Institutes; Annie M. Ward, Dominion president, Women's Division of the Farmers' Union."
