"POST" CONGRATULATED
PETONE MAYOR'S REMARKS j
Congratulations to "The Post" on its seventieth anniversary were expressed by the Mayor (Mr. A. Scholefleld) at the meeting of the Petone Borough Council last evening. ' ."' The Mayor said he would like to congratulate , the directors of "The Post" on the celebration of the paper's seventieth anniversary. . "The Post" had.rendered service to the council and to the borough,.he said, and appreciation of it had been voiced many times. Taken on the whole, a newspaper did render service. It was a splendid achievement for a paper to run for seventy.years.and to keep to such a high standard as that of "The Post," which, he said, was up to the standard of the finest papers he had seen in the.Old Country. There was no doubt that "The Post" was one of the finest papers published. It gave him great pleasure to move that congratulations be sent to the proprietors of "The Post." In seconding the motion, Councillor |D. M. Dickson said that "The Post" was one of the finest papers published anywhere in the Dominion, and was a credit to the country. I The motion was carried without further comment. ■ Captain G. E. Breeze, nautical adviser to the Marine Department, returned to Wellington from Christ- , church today.
