A STATEMENT DENIED
The statement has been circulated in the riding that the opposition to the bridge are today making a-state-ment that if the' ratepayers will reject the poll tomorrow, that the bridge and road-will be built at once without a contribution from the ratepayers. Today Mr. Button interviewed the chairman of the Main Highways Board, who gave him the' authority to state that at no time has the board ever considered the giving of free money for the Paremata Bridge, and in the opinion of the chairman (Mr. McKenzie) the board could not morally give money for the bridge seeing that they were getting a contribution from every local authority in the Dominion.
