There; was a rare sight in' Auckland Harbour this morning when' the sloop Laburnum left for North Australian ports en route to Singapore, where-she is, to ..be used as a training ship. : In addition to her engines—she is the-last independent command in * the Royal Navy to burn coal and wear sail—she was propelled by sails. She flew a paying-off pennant 235 feet long. : H.M.S. Dunedin and H.M.S. Philomel signalled, "Goodbye and> good luck" to her., ~
