SYDNEY, January 29. Victoria who, prior to the New South Wales match, had virtually .won the Sheffield Shield, placed the issue beyond all possible doubt today by defeating New South Wales outright. Only outright defeats by New Sonth Wales and South Australia could have removed Victoria's stranglehold on the shield, and today's outright win ensures that State 'an easy victory. New South Wales, who made 255 in their first innings, in the second innings made 178 (Finglcton 49, McCabe 53, Robinson 28 not out.' FlcetwoodSmith took eight wickets for 113 runs, making 15 for 226 for the match, an excellent performance on a ■ perfect wicket.' , Victoria, who made 420. and 226, won by 213 runs. ,
