According! to an official statement made in-tho Bankruptcy Court t.oday, before Mr. Justice Lukin, farmers of this State have banded themselves together with the objectl of preventing Government officers conducting forced sales of distressed farmers' properties, either by refusing to bid or making such ridiculously low offers that the official receiver is unable to realise. Local auctioneers. aro even afraid to act on behalf, of an official receiver owing to the possibility, of a boycott by local farmers. Mr. Justice Lukin sent James Hoban, Tannyorth, to gaol for defying a Court order to hand over to the official receiver 1690 bags of wheat and 70 tons of lucerne in accordance with a sequestration order on November 23.
