The report of the directors of J. Staples and Co., Ltd., brewers, for the year ended December 31, 1934, states that net profits for the year were £15,393 5s 4d, which, together with £ 11,526 10s Id brought forward, made a total of £26,919 15s sd. S .From this an interim dividend of |% per cent, was paid in August, leav&c £18,169 15s 5d for appropriation. W] The directors recommend that there sbe paid a further .dividend :o£i2%,p_er "cent, (making 5 per cent, -for thej year)V • £8750, and that there be carried forward the balance of £9419 15s 5d., K; 7 ;
The directors regret to record the death, in August last, of Mr. Alfred Smith, who had rendered valuable service as a director of the company for a period of over twelve years. The vacancy on the directorate was filled by, the appointment of the Hon. W. Perry. M.L.C., , The director to retire in terms of the articles of association of the company is Dr. Pi F; McEvedy, who is' eligible for reelection' and offers himself accordingly.
