JOTTINGS FROM HAWERA

(Special from ''Limited.")

HAWERA,' This- Day.

Tho final gallops of the Hawera horses engaged at Wanganui this week wero performed yesterday morning under perfect conditions. Excepting for a couple of gallops on the outside of the course proper fast work was performed on tho plough track.' Aga Khan, Diagano, Lowenberg, Gold Gleam, and Carfex were all responsible for attractive work.

•Arouse, who returned home after the first day at Trentham, was out doing light pace work. Ho lightened up a bit as a result of the trip. Aga Khan (Fcasey) and' Diaganb (Cole) galloped seven furlongs. Jumping off at the mile post, they were well into their strides at the seven furlongs and ran the first' half-mile in 50 3-sscc, finishing together in lmin 30sec, the last three furlongs occupying 39'2-ssec. Both horses finished well, neither being kicked' out. Aga Khan appears very fit at present. '. •' Gold Gleam1 (Feasey) and ' Carfex (Colo) were sent half .a mile. Going evenly all the way at 12$sec to the furlong, the pair finished up in 50sec dead, with Carfex just"shading "his companion.. Carfex, who has been on the easy list for a few days, has almost recovered from his soreness and shaped well. None of J. Fryer's .team' worked fast,- but Kuri (Cptter), Onewhetu (Duncan), and Silk Sox (Feasey) accomplished a nice work-but "over a mile at 15sec to the furlong. St. Clara (Conway) easily beat Ingenuity (Fearn) over seven furlongs covered in lmin, 32sec. ' Ingenuity shaped poorly. After covering the- first two furlongs of a ,half-mile gallop, in 24Jsec, iFersen (Coyle) was well in front of Colossal (Grylls) at the finish in 50 4-ssec.' ' ' , Panloff (Duncan) did a round of solid pace work. I On the outside of the course propor Lowonberg (Coyle), Exquisite (Fearn), and Autumn Leaf (Feasey) were associated over half a mile. Lowenberg finished' three-quarters of a length in front of Autumn Leaf, with Exquisite several lengths back, in 52scc. Lady Eka (Duncan) was too good for Careful (Fearn) over half a mile, leading her companion all the way and finishing half a length in front in,s3sec. The following horses were tc\*i ave left for Wangamii today:—Aga Khan (C. Jackson), Silk Sox, Onewhetu, Panloff (J. Fryer), Fersen Loweabwg (O. Cox), and Colossal (T. Fryct). St. Clara (le Campion) goes' down tomorrow morning. Beau Star, Carfex, Ingenuity, Gold- Gleam, and Diagano leave-on. Friday to.take part in the racing on Saturday.. Harvest Moon may also go down, for Saturday's '"The' hurdler Colossal will race at Waneanuiin the interests of Mr. t*. E. Harding, who has acquired the lease from Mr. Kuttiman.'
