Maranui squared accounts with Hutt in the A grade game played at Te Aro yesterday afternoon. Tho game was one of the best this season, and gave ample evidence of- the improvement of the sport locally- .- Plank scored both goals for. Maranui, and Balfour goalod for Hutt. ■ Tho deciding goal came as the result of a fine attacking movement which drew ■ off the Hutt defence. Plank's score from well out on an angle was a brilliant effort. , t

At the Riddiford Baths, last even-ing,-Island Bay drew with Hutt in tho B grade. .Island Bay are a greatlyimproved ■ team, and aro developing -a stronger combination. Russell scored all three goals for Island Bay, and Baker scored thrice'for Hutt.
Mr. N. N. Oldershaw controlled the game. An improved standard of play was also shown in the two- B grade games played at Te Aro yesterday. Mnranui registered 'a convincingl win over University by 6 goals to nil. Scorers for Marnnni wore E. Haven (3), Easte (2), and A. De Costa. Maranui has developed a strong combination in this gi;ade, and their meeting with Lyall Bay should bo an interesting one. Mr. V. L. Allan rcferecd the game. .
.Y.M.O.A. played a strong defensive game against Tjyall Bay, but could not keep out Lyall Bay's strong forward lino.' J. Williams scored twice, and Rex once. The game ended 3-0 in TJya.ll Bay's favour. Mr, A. Somcrville was the referees
The A grade game tomorrow at Te Aro will bo between Lyall Bay and University. Mr. A. Somcrvillo will refcioe the game.
Tn the B grade, Lyall Bay are to meet Island Bay, and Wellington arc to play Worser Bay, both games being at To Aro. The- referees will bo Messrs. A. Somcrvillo and E. Adam.
