SWIMMING CARNIVAL.
♦ Next Saturday afternon at Te Aro Baths, tns Wellington Swimming Centre will be putting on the carnival which was postponed recently through wet weather. The same programme will be given, with the addition of the Worser Bay breastrttroke banner relay. The postponement has, if anything, increased the interest in the championship events. In the 50yds. championship the swimmers nominated. Clnridge and Plank (M.irnnui), Blakeley (Lynll Bay), Soinefvell (Hutt), Jrason (University), and Pennington (Wellington), are all in god condition, and should provide nn exciting finish. It would be no surprise to see the local record broken. The above swimmers, with the additionof Pelham, Thwaites, and J. Williams (Lyall Bny),' and J. Barnes (Jlasterton), will at«o be competing in the 440yds championship. This race should produce a great finish. The ladies' 100yds championship is beinjr eagerly looked forward to by lady swimmer*, and already the chances of Misses Campbell, Fraser, iind Gotliol) are being discussed as likely winners. Record entries have been received for all the handicap events. The water polo game between Lyall Bav and Maranui should finish off a'Rood afternoon's'sport.
