CONTRACT BRIDGE
(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln reply to :Mr. Cyril Avondale ’s letter concerning the Bridge League, I'have to state, that I recently resigned from the honorary secretaryship for New Zealand of the British Bridge League for the reasons mentioned in my previous letter to the “Evening Post.” The formation of a New Zealand Contract Bridge Association should unite the present, opposing factions. There is no reason why the Dominion should be a battle-ground for overseas leagues of different origin. The game of bridge should be above that. I was pleased to read in your columns that Professor G. W. von Zedlitz is also in favour of a New Zealand Association being formed, and when the public meeting is held ’Mr, Avondale will be given every opportunity of placing his views before those present. The time and place of the meeting will be duly advertised in. the “Evening Post.”—l am, etc., 0. GLEN-DOEPEL. September 6.
