PARAPARAUMU MEETING
I September is looked forward to with considerable" interest by members and friends of the Paraparaumu Women's Institute, when a flower show takes the place of the usual meeting. Glorious spring weather and many gay iblooms drew affair attendance at the'Angli;, can Schoolroom recently, when this event took place. Needlework was added to the catalogue this year, and created extra interest. The list of prize-winners is as follows: Mi-3. D. Howell, primroses, 1 first, and three firsts and 2 seconds in the bulb section; Mrs. Burgess, anemones 1, carnation 1, 1 first and 2 seconds bulbs, 2 firsts and 2'seconds leeland poppies; Mrs. Brown, pikelets 1, bulbs 2, Mrs. J.,Brown also took prizes for the heaviest.hens' eggs and men's knitted socks; Mis/Hardham, freesias (white and hybrids), 1, hyacinths 1, (ramineulns and collection of fancywork 2; Mrs. Brazier, anemones, freesias, and camellias 2; Mrs. Hughes, nemesins and shoulder spray 1, hyacinths 2, also for nut loaf and butter sponge; Mrs. Paterson, pansies, 1; Mrs. Huwkes, jam and violets 1, pansies 2; Mr. Breeze, violets 2; Mrs. Delahunty, 'marmalade, "decorated bowl and vase 1, and primroses 2; Miss Stoeker, polyanthus 1; Mrs. Cromb, rhododendron 1; Mis. Harris, camellias, 1, and collection flowering shrubs, 2; Miss Caterer, collection of cut flowers 1, marmalade 2; Miss K. McLean, collection flowering shrubs 1; Miss Lynch, decorated bowl 2; Mrs. G. C. McLean, knitted tea cosy, matinee jacket, baby's singlet 1, and for posy, shoulder spray, and decorated vase 2; Mrs. Shepherd,, posy, 1; Mrs. Reeve, pickles 1, jam 2; Mrs. Clarke, tomato sauce, butter sponge, shortbread 1, and matinee jacket and baby's singlet 2j Mrs. Melsaac, tomato sauce 2; (Mrs. Sherring, pickles and preserved fruit 2; Miss Cromb, butter sponge 2; Mrs. Clarkson, preserved fruit, scones, and plain sponge 1; Mrs. Fitchett, pikelets 2; Mrs. Murphy, scones and shortbread 2; Mrs. Pratt, heaviest liens' eggs 1; Miss V. Shepherd, collection fancy work and Richlieu 1, Richlieu and white embroidery 2; Miss Trcadwell, embroidery and duehesse set 1; Mrs. Ferguson, duehesse set 1; Mrs. Tyson, knitted jumper, 1 and 2; Mrs. Fraser, knitted tea cosy 2; Miss ] Adenall, men's knitted socks 1. "'".* j The points prizes were won by Mrs. I Burgess for cut flowers, Miss V. Shepherd for needlework, and Mrs, G. McLean and Mrs. Delahunty were.equal in the decorative section; Afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mcsdames Hughes, Shepherd, Mclvdr, Creswell, Delahunty, and Miss Lynch.
