The activities of the National Daffodil Society of New Zealand are brought prominently under public notice by the holding of a North Island and a South Island daffodil show* each year in conjunction with a selected horticultural society. The 1 main National Daffodil Society's Show for 1934 will be held, together with the Wellington Horticultural Society's Spring Show, at the Town Hall, Wellington, on AVednesday and Thursday, September 19 and 20. ' This show will be open continuously from 2 p.m. on the Wednesday, and it will be officially opened at 3 p.in: by his Excellency the Governor-General, accompanied by Lady Bledisloe. The leading daffodil growers of New Zealand will meet in keen competition with blooms of a quality never previously' shown, and the Wellington Horticultural Society's Spring Show will reach its usual high standard. The Wellington South Horticultural Society's Spring Show will open on-Tues-day week, September 18, in St. Thomas' Hall, Riildiford Street. A generous prize list has been arranged, and anything and everything from the garden and the home can be shown; there is also the usual liberal section for children. Schedules are procurable at the various florists, also from the secretary, as advertised in this issue. , . The Hutt Valley Horticultural Society will open 1 the season with the Narcissi Show next Wednesday and Thursday, in King George Theatre, Lower ' Hutt. Sir R Heaton Rhodes, president of the National Daffodil Society, will officially open the show at 2.30 p.m. Besides narcissi there will be a fine display of cinerarias, polyanthus, and other spring. flowers. Entries close on Tuesday next at noon. In connection with the article on the history of the Hutt Valley Horticultural Society published yesterday, a correspondent states that the list of presidents d id not include the name of Mr. N. B.
