NEW ZEALAND ARTISTS

EXHIBITION IN SYDNEY

(Received September 4, 8 a.m.)

SYDNEY, September 3. An exhibition of the water-colour drawings of two New Zealand artists, Mrs. H. Pulleine-Spencer and Mrs. Dorothy Asliton, was opened today at the New Zealand Women's Association's Rooms. The majority of the subjects arc New Zealand. The critics declare that Mrs. Spencer's work is fresh and happy and her best results aro achieved in pictures of luxuriantly tangled native New Zealand bush," marked by depth and richness of colour. Mrs. Ashton's comprise pleasing beach scenes.

Mr. Will Ashton, who opened the exhibition, said that the work of each painter was frank and honest and full of light and colour.
